Mosquito and the Ant

by Brian, Age 14 , Grade 9

Once upon a time, there was an ant who lived in the far corner of the forest. Near the Ant's home lived a Mosquito who was passing by.
"Ew," said the Ant. "Why are you so close to my home? Everything here is beautiful, and you being here just ruins it."
The Mosquito, not wanting to start a conflict stayed quiet and kept walking.
One day the Ant had been walking for a while.
He sighed and said, "Ahh it's getting dark, time to head back."
As the Ant turned around to go back, he realized he had no idea where he was. In that moment it started to thunder.
"OH NO!" the Ant exclaimed. "I have to run before the storm hits."
The ant began to run until he found a home. He began to bang on the door.
    "Help, Help!" the Ant screamed.
Just then, the door opened and the Mosquito answered. The Ant felt sick to his stomach, and he didn't know what to do or say.
"What are you doing?" the Mosquito exclaimed. "Get inside."
"Are you not upset that I yelled at you and made fun of you?" said the Ant.
"Of course not. What you said didn't offend me. In fact, I didnt really care. I just didnt let you get the best of me."
The Ant then came inside, avoiding the rain.
