The Silent vs. The Loud

by Leah M., Age 12 , Grade 7, New Kent Middle School, New Kent, VIRGINIA USA
Teacher: Mrs. Hodges

Could you imagine a world, that’s silent. There is no noise, not a single sound you can hear. Well, you can’t hear anything. Just imagine a silent, quiet world. That’s what I “hear” everyday of my life. Well, I can’t hear anything. People call me deaf. Being deaf is just blocked out noise. As people tell me.

People always call me the evil. The unwanted girl who can’t hear. I say I’m born to stand out. Even if I can’t hear what they say, they write it down so I can read it. They say mean thing, well they write it down. They write that I don’t have friends and can’t hear. They say how unwanted and lonely I am. There is no shame saying I am lonely.

But I am always going to say in the end. I am the good and their the evil.
