First Day of School Car Ride
“Wait” I said, “I forgot my lunch.” I just woke up at six in the morning for the first time in two months, so I felt like a zombie and probably looked like one too. I hopped out of my mom’s car and walked down our driveway into my house to grab my lunch box. I walked to get my lunch because my stomach hurt. I’m not sure if it was because I was nervous, or because of all the blueberry muffins I devoured. Once I got back to my car, my sister started getting mad at me saying how I was going to make her late, which is kind of ironic because last year she would make me ten minutes late and I wouldn’t complain. After I buckled up my seatbelt my mom turned an Avett Brothers song on which made me remember of the time we went to one of their concerts, but when the song was over it made me think of all of the things I didn’t do this summer like going to mammoth cave, or going to that go carting place. I wasn’t too sad though. My family and I got to do a ton of fun things like walking up to comfy cow and going to Hilton Head. My mom just turned onto Bardstown road and passed the Qdoba, which was the last thing I needed. I started thinking of my stomach again and it felt as if I just rode a rollercoaster after chugging a coke. We passed a game store close to school and I pinched myself as if it would wake me up from this bad dream. Sadly, I didn’t wake up. I couldn’t believe that summer was already over; it seemed to go by faster than the horses at Churchill Downs. I was just about to go back to sleep when my mom told me to unbuckle my seatbelt…we were at school.
