elegy to the house in the woods

by Gary, Age 12 , Grade 7, Easton Middle school, Easton, MD USA

elegy to the yellow house near the woods

The yellow house, close to the woods

Home to me for as long as I can remember

Now no longer mine

Given to a better family

Forced to move out, Against my will

No longer at home with the chirping birds or the hoping rabbits

No night I don’t think about the yellow house, close to the woods

Closer to friends, farther from home

Moving again soon

Closer to the house near the woods

But I fear it will take me farther away from it
