“ Where I am from”
I am from the flower petals you drop,
From soil and contaminated water.
I am from the broken home.
(bitter, solitary, pulled apart)
I am from a crab apple tree
Deserted in your backyard
I am from ripped opened presents on christmas eve
And dirty blond hair
From Mckenzie and Bella
I’m from the strident and insane.
“Always be yourself.”and “keep trying.”
I’m from the baptism, you receive as a small child.
I’m from Alaska and the unknown.
From the ones we love most, that adopt us when born.
The special bonds I share with my sister.
Pictures resting above the mantel
Scrapbooks filled with love that prosper.
