Storm

by Reagan, Age 13 , Grade 8, Holy Trinity Parish School, Louisville, KY USA
Teacher: Sarah Reinhart

The thunder roars causing a swift breeze

The house starts to shake with unease

The rain falls like crystals in the sky

The children lay awake after their parents say goodbye

The orchestra of noises gently rocks people to sleep

While children lie awake counting their sheep

Each strike of lighting awakens the room

But morning will come very soon

The dark grey clouds make the day seem like night

Children hold on to stuffed animals extra tight

Little dogs tremble with fear

Waiting for the storm to quickly disappear

When the lightning drifts away

And the clouds refuse to stay

The thunder dies down

Now you feel safe and sound
