Poetry

Alone

by James P., Age 12 , Grade 7, SRMS
Teacher: Mrs.G

My heart races, My palms sweat.

My eyes follow, what I can’t get

Every day I keep holding on

To the one thing that I’ve needed for oh so long.

The stars in the sky all beam down like a spotlight

All the sound in the world becomes mute.

I just sit there all alone

Maybe they might come too.

The maroon glow of the evening sky

Illuminates their flush hair

I can never tell them or I’ll cry

Because they don't care

I wish they knew

I wish they saw

I wish they cared

Yet my hopes seem to fall.

In the end my soul begins to weep

In the end the hole in my heart is deep.
