Rubber was invented and vulcanized by Charles Goodyear in 1844.
Charles Goodyear was born in New Haven, Connecticut on December 29th 1800. Charles had four sisters and one brother.
Charles later childhood!
Charles got very little schooling when he was a little kid.
In his later childhood he loved to try new things and he worked for a hardware business with his dad. That business wasn’t very successful, so Charles began trying new things and experiencing with a substance soon to be called rubber.In Charles Goodyear’s later life he had to go to jail because he didn’t pay five dollars of his hotel payment.Also in Charles later life,Charles married a lady and had six children.

Then later on in his life he started to be very popular with his rubber and rubber started being used for many things. For example it could be used on a tire.Also in his later life Charles went to Boston to see friends and he came home and he discovered his baby had died.
Charles contacted his brother in law in New York (who had a lot of money) about his success in making rubber,and the brother in law was very happy for Charles because the brother in law didn’t think it would work.So he was extra excited when Charles discovered rubber. Goodyear died while traveling to visit his very sick daughter. He arrived and she died when he got there.Then he died at age 59 right after she died.
