Black Like Me

Black Like Me

On a day like any day a young black boy is born

So, young wild and free

With a fresh powerful spirit

So, loud you can hear it

A black boy, black like me.

With a heart so pure and disconnected from hatred

His head filled with dreams

He has to learn how to live

He has to learn how to be true

A black boy, Black like me.

He grows and grows

He grows so tall and far

And then in the street

While trying to keep the peace

The black boy is shot in his love filled heart.

And then there goes another black boy

Who was so young and free

Who devoted his life

To fighting for equal rights

A black boy just like me.
