Poetry

Lightbulb

by Cassy H., Age 17 , Grade 12, Thomas Jefferson High School, Council Bluffs, IOWA USA

On one

fateful day, you are
asked to create a poem but
don’t know what to write. So,
you create a poem in the shape
of a lightbulb out of spite. Maybe
the familiar shape will inspire
you to make something new.
Or, it could make readers
laugh, which works for
you. A poem about
having no ideas,
shaped like a

lightbulb just
for the jokes.

Irony so plain
must cause a

smile, even

out of the

serious
folks.
