Hunger Games Review

By Sasha Wintner

In a place called Panem, there lived a girl named Katniss Everdeen.

This may sound like the start of a fairy tale but I assure you that life in Panem is anything but a fairy tale. Not so long ago, Panem was in a war. Every person in all of Panem was fighting against the Capitol. The Capitol, being very healthy and wealthy won the war, and all of the people who were fighting against the Capitol were sent to twelve districts within Panem. Every year the Capitol hosts the Hunger Games, this is were Katniss’s story begins. It is reaping day, the day where one boy and one girl from each district will be chosen to fight in the Hunger Games. In the Games, you must survive 23 other tributes and struggle to stay alive while fighting with wounds, hunger, weather and the gamemakers. If you are the last alive you win enough money for a lifetime, and a beautiful house for you and you family. As Katniss and Peeta travel on their journey of survival they must face love, blood and each other.

I recommend this book to teens who like action with a little drama. I loved this book and I encourage you to read it.
