Poetry

memory

by Lilley H., Age 13 , Grade 8, South City Community School, Saint Louis, MISSOURI USA
Teacher: Mrs. Perkins

rainy days

three year old life

mama’s gentle ways

french doors and a checked kitchen

smiling faces ? and then

crying eyes

the echo of my memory

it bounces

repeats

and fades away

my memories will come back someday

the stairs of the courthouse

my scribbled paper

my bird and my bear

a typewriter of my own

comforting hugs

quiet laughing

the echo of my memory

it bounces

repeats

and fades away

my memories will come back someday

my brother

my sister

their little quirks

their funny smiles

constant dancing

happy playing

the echo of my memory

it bounces

repeats

and fades away

my memories will come back someday

new friends

a funeral

writing ? my escape

just my little ways

a revelation

messages on sticky notes

the echo of my memory

it bounces

repeats

and fades away

my memories will come back someday

?

will they?
