WordSpillage

by Jayla M., Age 11 , Grade 6, St.Francis of Assisi, Louisville , KY USA

 I never look away
I always look forward
I never turn my back , I always keep my eyes ahead
but I don’t let go of the past
 I don’t ever let go
what you’ve said is what you said
you can’t take it back
when it falls out of your mouth you can’t put those hurt full words back in
i watch as you pick them up quickly but they just burst back out you try to sweep them away but you can’t it is like you spilled this coffee all over me the coffee is boiling hot you clean it up but there is still a burn . My flesh is bruised so is my heart.
It would help if you walk away and make an apology tomorrow. I guess we will wait until tomorrow so your words can fall again.
