Poetry

More Than A Sunset

by Alandya D., Age 17 , Grade 12, Boston Latin Academy, Boston, MA USA

I lay

on grass

my back

becomes

slightly

cooler

from the dew

I close

my eyes

to absorb

singing of

house sparrows

which softens

gently

chirping

overtakes

I open

my eyes

sun

now half

its size

darkens to

red orange

sky

punch pink

merging into

grape purple

merging into

berry blue

clouds fade

like

cotton

candy

on

saliva

I smile

almost forgot

how beautiful

the world can be
