Poetry

A True Renaissance Man (Partly inspired by Bronx Masquerade)

by Garrett H., Age 12 , Grade 7, Marshall Middle School, San Diego, CALIFORNIA USA
Teacher: Mr. Prescott

Dreams, dripping away,
but not to be flushed away.
Dreams, dripping away,
pooling together to flood
the world with the Negro Dream.

Birds, migrating south,
to the land where dreams collide.
To the land where dreams
come true and fulfill their lives.
To the land where dreams defer.

You, James Langston Hughes,
are a man to celebrate.
We celebrate you.
That being said, I salute
you, a true reanaissance man.
