Poetry

Miles Apart, Souls Alike

by Emily A., Age 16 , Grade 12, Davie County Schools, Mocksville, NC USA
Teacher: Mr. Auffhammer

Hot summer nights in Texas

usually ended with car rides wandering down the highway.

City lights engulfed us, automobiles whispered all around.

All was still and faint melodies heard.

A soft voice interrogates me, low and gentle.

Feelings of comfort and relaxation over come me.

Usually separate, those nights we knew,

We share parts of our souls.

We became one.

Those nights physical similarities
became emotional and mental.
