Where I'm from

Where I’m From

I am from biking on warm summer days,

With itchy bug bites all over,

From camping in Burlington,

And waiting in the cold hangar for the heavy rain to pass,

From anxiously waiting in the full car to get home.

I am from cold winters in Iowa,

From building tall snowmen

And awesome snow forts with friends,

From falling asleep by the warm fireplace while watching a movie.

I am from playing with friends all summer long,

From playing with pink and purple sidewalk chalk

And the eating buttery corn my mom made,

From begging to stay outside

“For just one more minute.”

I am from gymnastics and cheer,

Driving an hour three-four nights a week

And getting home a 10pm

From a full schedule of sports and school
