Pencil and Paper

by Daniel B. , Grade 12, The Lawrenceville School, Plainsboro, NJ USA
Teacher: Ms. Ray

They say Thoughts run Wild

Your lucky to catch one in the Jungles of the Mind

Lucky to trap

Lucky to cage

The more artistic, creative forms of ourselves

Some people seek to hold on to Thoughts

Within their little hands, they plan to explore the purpose and meaning

Of Wild Thoughts

But find nothing

No purpose

No meaning

No spark

No ideas

People expect to find wealth in the deprived Wild Thought

Stripped from its Natural Habitat

Held between the cracks of the fingers

Dimmed in the close hands

The beauty of the Wild Thought

Is in the way it runs

Way it flies

Way it crawls

Way it Climbs

There you find the riches of the Wild Thought

There you sit

Watch

Observe

What the Thought has to offer with pencil and paper
